BGCI’s global mission is to raise the profile of plants and promote the vital role they play. Armed with newly established data about the impact of climate change, BGCI wanted to create an inspirational online resource for schools.

Design Bridge were called in to devise an online pack, with supporting visual materials, that would help teachers communicate the importance of plant life. Following a period of immersive research, the team proposed a resource that would facilitate unwinnable debates between groups of children arguing the survival rights of plants, insects and animals. The aim was to promote co-existence and elevate plant status in children’s minds.

The resource was supported by a poster based on 1950s party political propaganda. The poster succeeded in generating over 750 website hits, and the resource, called Voice Your Choice, reached 11,000 children in the first six months. BGCI also reported a 335% increase in downloads compared with previous online projects.
